🕷Halloween celebrations date back 2000 years ago: as traditional pagan traditions
💀 The tradition of wearing masks on Halloween: comes from Welsh and Celtic traditions that the dead visit the living on October 31st.
The masks are intended to keep the spirits of the dead from recognizing the living.
🍁In America during the 1800’s: The end of the harvest season was celebrated at the end of October by wearing costumes , eating sweets, and playing jokes on each other .
🎃The tradition of Trick or Treating: In the 1930’s Teenagers playing practical Jokes on Halloween night started to turn ugly and sometimes violent, and a movement was started where , if the homeowner gave the children candy they wouldn’t harm their property, but if they did not give candy they would pull pranks on them. Hence the term ‘Trick or Treat’
💀 In 1964: Helen pfeil of Greenlawn, NY was arrested for handing out Arsenic laced treats as a prank on teens she deemed too old for trick or treating
