Perhaps this potoo druid’s human companion has an animal companion that is actually a cursed druid

I don’t think druid companions are allowed to have companions of their own

Hey, the 5e developers said you don’t have to be a beastmaster to get an animal companion, and that it’s all story relative.

If my druid has a human companion who isn’t a beastmaster but still gets a animal companion, who in turn get’s awakened by me as a druid, then gains levels in beastmaster, gets it’s own beast companion, awaken that, make it a wizard, let it cast both find familliar and simulacrum on the druid, and repeat the cycle.
